Card Box Using One A4 Sheet Of Cardstock

Hi there.  This is a quick post as I just wanted to share with you a template I just made for making a card box using only one sheet of A4 cardstock.  It's all in a picture which has all the details on there.  Oh you may want to cut a half circle out of the top (left side) edge to make opening and closing the box easier, I forgot that bit, but have now added it.

It's Twins!

Hi there, thanks for popping by.  Tonight I finished up making this adorable little card that features a plastic covered window with the focal image on the inside of the card.  

The stamp set that I used is by Clearly Besotted and is called Peekaboo.  I used the starry patterned paper from the Jennifer Ellory Bake a Cake set (again).  It's a cute paper pack and I will probably have some more play time with it soon.

The image was coloured simply with copic markers.  I actually thought the sky would turn out a lot lighter, however I learned that FBG2 turns out to be quite dark - but you'd love a sky that colour in real life :o).

Die Cutting Essentials issue 13 - using ice cream Sundae Set

Hey there!  I just made this card using the Die Cutting Essentials Issue 13 free ice cream sundae set.  When I saw this magazine at the newsagent the other day it was a must have, I just thought the dies were so cute, plus a full size embossing folder and 3 stamps as well - what's not to love?  

I've made a fairly basic card but it took me a while, figuring out what to put where etc.  The dish is popped up with double dimensionals, the icecreams have one dimensional, it's rather 3D looking in real life.  The paper I used was from another freebie on a magazine (sorry can't remember, it was separated and put in my paper stash).  The paper set is called "Bake a cake" by Jennifer Ellory - it's very cute.

Luka the Fireman! (Kit and Clowder Create and Learn Marker Class September 2016)

Hi there.  Today I finished 2 versions of the Kit and Clowder Create and Learn Marker Class for September 2016.  A little late but being late doesn't worry me, I get there eventually :o)  I still have a few classes to do from before September and a new one arrived in my mail box yesterday too, so stay tuned for more colouring blog posts in the future.  

Our image was provided to us for half price from La La Land Crafts.  The image came merged with the background - which makes it so much easier :o)

For my first attempt at the image I was really pleased with how the colouring turned out.  (As always with these classes).  I had a little go at trying to make the nose more like a nose (not part of the tutorial) and quite liked how it came out.

On my second attempt, I didn't use the video.  I coloured attempt one with the video and then coloured the second one on my own, part by part.  A few times I did the 'own' piece after hours in between.  Just goes to show how I learned just from doing the first one.  

I am super pleased with how the face turned out on Luka on the second one.  I altered it with a copic safe marker and totally fluked the nose - it looks awesome I think!

Kit and Clowder Classes - What I've chosen

Hi there, today I thought I would give you an insight into the colouring classes that I signed up for with Alyce Keegan and her company Kit and Clowder.  I've mentioned it in a couple of my recent posts but decided that you might appreciate a little more information on the classes.

I have signed up for a few classes and below is a little information on each one:

The first class I signed up for was the Create and Learn markers class.  There is also one for pencils and you can get the both of them together at a discount.  For now I'm just doing the marker classes with Alyce.  This class costs me $20 australian dollars a month and it's worth every single cent!  

Alyce is a really good trainer.  Prior to these classes I had been taught by youtube.  That's a valuable tool but it's not backed up like the classes that Alyce delivers.  She explains things so that they make sense and her style of teaching is really easy going but informative.  I totally recommend her classes.

The second class I signed up for was a must because it had flowers in it and I love colouring flowers.  This class is a higher cost of $70 australian dollars, but it has hours and hours of tutorials, digital images galore and every single class always has a printable guide as well!  You saw a few items I've coloured in a few posts back that belonged to this class.

 

With my tax refund this year I splashed out and bought the skin and hair and clothing classes.  I haven't made any time as yet to have a go at them but I've seen other students postings on the Kit and Clowder facebook group and the results are stunning.

In addition to the classes I bought, Alyce frequently gives away free tutorials with the monthly classes, as well as free classes even if you haven't bought any classes.  For these classes you will need to:  Please make sure you are a member here of the Kit and Clowder group if you are seeing this elsewhere (and you are - you're seeing it here on my blog) :

Catch up and colouring a sepia bride image

Well it's totally official, I'm so super slack with this blog that I can only apologise.  However, I don't think that my lack of writing is actually going to ruin anyone's day so I guess no harm = no foul :)

Hello too, by the way!

There have been many times where I briefly considered doing a post, but it all seemed too hard, as there are so many pictures I haven't posted.  Was just thinking that a few minutes ago and realised that the number will only keep rising, so I might as well.  Therefore, below you will find an assortment of pictures, totally random, as I mostly do my crafting by mood or need - need a card or have an order?  Well, that equals instantaneous create mode.... Nothing particularly needed... that one equals create by mood mode... lets get to it!

What will I find? ...hmmmmmm...  Well, it turns out that I do have a few photos on my phone that I haven't protected with Gimp2 yet so I can't upload them here.  But I did find my very latest colouring projects.  

The challenge was for an 'online bridal shower' for our Colouring Queen: Alyce Keegan, from Kit and Clowder (where I am taking my colouring classes - when I get around to doing them).  This image was provided to us for free by one of our members and we had to colour it in sepia tones.  This first bride I used 6 colours of copics - all Earth tones.  I was not game to use the really dark colours in really more than her eyes, flowers and the cat's colour.  Nevertheless, I was quite blown away with how she turned out.  I was thinking of going over her more with the darker colours but decided to leave her alone in case I stuffed her up and also because I'd printed two images so I had a backup I could practice darker colouring on anyway.

For my second bride, I used exactly the same colours but more of the darker ones.  Viola - she's gorgeous - even if I do say so myself.  I love how she turned out, even though I don't really understand how to colour in folds, they look bloody good I think.  

(I have the skin and hair and clothing classes - I haven't made any time to look at them yet.  I'm also behind on my monthly colouring classes.  The August class - I did that one twice.  But I'm yet to do the previous two months classes and also now have the September class to do.  Another will arrive on the 15 of October (and monthly thereafter).

Elements of Nature Class from Kit and Clowder

Hi there!  As mentioned in my previous post, I have joined the Elements of Nature class at Kit and Clowder.  There are a wealth of images and techniques to learn in this class.  I'm going to be doing one of the images here and there, so if you're interested, I will tag them so they're easier to find.  I love flowers and colouring them, so taking this class was never a question.  Each of these three pictures was coloured on 200gsm cardstock.

First up I attempted colouring these gorgeous Lillies.  I didn't have the correct greys so I tried to mix a C1 and a C5 to make a C3, with some success.  I will have to have another go at colouring these now that I have all the markers used in the class and see if there is a noticeable difference or improvement.  In any case, I totally love how this first one turned out.

Next up we had a request from Alyce (the teacher) to colour in the strawberry, cherries and blueberries picture.  This presented me with quite a challenge as the 200gsm cardstock just absorbs ink and doesn't aid in blending.  I now have a new stash of blending cardstock for the way forward!  Yay!

Finally, I have coloured one more picture from the Elements of Nature class, the lemons.  These turned out pretty good I think as well.  I can't wait to see and feel the difference when I start colouring on the XpressIt blending cardstock.

A Dramatic Improvement In My Colouring - Thanks to Kit and Clowder Classes

Hi there.  Sorry for the long absence.  Life gets in the way and being uninspired doesn't help when creating!  

My mojo got up and left the building and only visits me sporadically - usually when I need a card for a purpose.  So, to try to entice my mojo back a little more regularly and because I was inspired by my friend Cheryl Wright's* progress in colouring - I decided to join online colouring classes at Kit and Clowder.  *I am trying to get a link to Cheryl's blog for you.

I joined in March 2016 with the Create and Learn markers class.  I pay only $20 a month and have lifetime access to the class and constructive feedback from the wonderful trainer Alyce Keegan.  Plus, her website has lots of useful tips and information.  

I really love the format that Alyce teaches in.  She produces a step by step video and a printable step by step guide.  I have watched a lot of youtube colouring over the past few years and thought I'd learned quite a lot, however Alyce not only shows you, she explains things - like 'cast shadows' which are shadows cast by things that are in front - like strands of hair for example.

I thoroughly enjoyed the March marker Create and Learn class and here are the results - I never could have coloured something this wonderful without the class!

I also thoroughly enjoyed the April marker Create and Learn class - and I have a special soft spot for dinosaurs - see the results below.

You can definitely see a dramatic improvement in my colouring just across those two pictures.  

Alyce also holds competitions and the facebook group is an excellent source of inspiration and support for all the members of Kit and Clowder.  For one competition we had a picture of this girl on a swing to colour in.  I wasn't game to try to make some kind of background so it doesn't have one, however I love how the colouring came out - without instruction - and can say that I used some of the things I learned in the March marker class (on the hair especially).  I was pretty happy with the dress, not knowing how to colour folds - I'm very happy with the outcome.  I do plan to sign up for the 'skin and hair' and 'clothing technique' classes.  What do you think?

I also won a prize from Alyce and Kit and Clowder, it was 3 Mepxy markers - a brand I'd never heard of before.  They are in lovely blue shades - a blendable set of 3 :o)  I'm not sure how to pronounce their name, but I go with 'mepsy'.

I have also taken up another of Alyce's classes, but I'll save that for a separate post.

I recommend you check out her website, if you love colouring - using pencils or markers - and wish you could colour like a pro; here's the place to start your learning!
